February 2007
Bill Cole was a guest expert, as the sport psychologist,
in a Yahoo! Sports roundtable discussion about the coaching styles
of Head Coaches Tony Dungy of the Indianapolis Colts and Lovie Smith
of the Chicago Bears for Super Bowl XLI.
Other guest experts included three-time Super Bowl winner Bill Walsh,
former Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers; Harry Edwards, a professor
at the University of California-Berkeley and one of the world's

Long after people forget the score and the venue, they might recall
Super Bowl XLI as the most socially significant football game since
the NFL discovered Roman numerals. It was the first Super Bowl game
in which both head coaches were African American, and both of these
coaches were known for their even-keeled approaches and calm demeanor.
Bill Cole, a fan of calm coaches, commented, "It's very important
[coaches] don't spread their personal stress to the players."

other panelists in the Yahoo! Sports column Coaching
Change.
